Monthly Meeting

Clayton RSL,
171 Carinish Rd,
Clayton VIC 3168

Who we are?

BRUDG is a non–commercial, social diving club, committed to safe and inexpensive diving for its members. It formed in 1953 and is the oldest diving club in Melbourne.

We have a large number of both male and female members across a wide age and experience range.
Some of us are very experienced divers with 2000+ dives under their belt while others are occasional divers interested in the social aspect as much as in the diving.

There aren’t many locations in Southern Australian waters that someone in
the club hasn’t dived and this is what makes BRUDG unique. We dive more
and more often than any other clubs in Melbourne, and we have a colossal
amount of experience we can share.
BRUDG has a number of private dive boats that are regularly used for club
organized dives and the owners enthusiastically make them available for
club diving.

BRUDG owns five large air compressors and a tandem trailer to transport
them. One of the perks of joining BRUDG is that air fills are free to BRUDG
members!
In addition to diving, we conduct regular social functions, and we have monthly meetings in Richmond at 8:00pm on the second Wednesday of each month, except for January.

Why Join BRUDG?

We offer you friendly, safe and inexpensive diving with some of the most experienced sport divers in Victoria. BRUDG members have extensive expertise and local knowledge of diving Southern Australian waters and we are happy to pass this on.

We conduct an active diving program each year which may include trips to Wilsons Promontory, Victorian West or East Coast, Bass Strait Islands, South Australia, New South Wales and of course local dives to either Mornington or Bellarine Peninsula’s and Philip Island.

From November to April, weather permitted, you are guaranteed to see boat dives organized during the week and weekends with a dive captain assigned each weekend to the organization of the diving activities.

We do most of our diving from member’s boats. Typically they are sturdy deep vee hull boats, fitted with EPIRBs, VHF and/or Marine band radios, GPS and depth sounders, We usually have two dives for the day and an unhurried lunch.
We promote safe boating and diving activities, with many boats equipped with oxygen available for emergencies and heart defibrillator. An appointed safety officer facilitates first aid courses, safety days, and tank testings on a yearly basis.
As we mostly dive from boats owned by members, a full day’s diving, i.e. two dives, is significantly cheaper than  business operated dive boats. We make a contribution towards the boat’s running costs for fuel, launch fees etc.
Many members have been active with the group for up to 30 years and have built a long–term relationship with fellow members and have a diverse diving history.
We dive on reefs or wrecks, for fun or to collect sea food. But whatever we do, we dive for the fascinating experience of exploring the underwater world and for the pleasure of being part of a social group that share the same passion.

If you appreciate the beauty of our underwater world, you may find
BRUDG’s family-friendly environment a match to your diving activities
